A couple of months back, Melvita came out with a new product which was the most awesome idea ever - A one-step application of their floral water and oil.

I was a tad bit wary of this because I had some terrible experience with oils earlier this year, namely Josie Maran's Argan Oil, and Tarte's Maracuja Oil. They broke me out horribly, but it's something I've yet to experience with the French variety of dry oils such as Caudalie and Nuxe. With that in mind, I figured this would be worth a shot, and I've been trying it out for a couple of months now.

What makes this product so magical is that it is lightened up in terms of texture, but still packs a super-hydrating punch through the inclusion of rose essence and their signature rose floral water.

[Oil floats on water! Bubbles float on oil?]

At rest, the product separates into its constituent parts of oil and floral water, so prior to use, you need to shake it up to combine the two. I love that it's in a nifty little plastic bottle, because I'm a klutz and the mixture of oil and glass is not a good plan.

It's also got a nice, effective spray which dispenses a good amount of product. I typically use 2 spritzes at once.

When you mix the bottle up, you find that the mixture goes a little murky, like it's emulsified, but it goes back to its default state within a minute of not being agitated.

[Murky Mix of Goodness]

[A Single Spritz]

I haven't said it yet, but I have to. The scent! It's gorgeous and so naturally rose-scented that you won't be able to resist falling in love with it. It isn't overpowering the way products specifically scented in a certain way are, but instead gives you a more subtle hit of roses. It's such a luxury and it's like dipping yourself into a bath of roses. I wish they made a product like this for the shower! This is part of the reason that I enjoy using this solely at night, as well. A good scent can put the day to rest and uplift you immediately, and this definitely helps with that. You need to go into their store and smell it if you haven't already!

As I mentioned above, I have tried Caudalie and Nuxe oils as overnight treatments, but I didn't do this for a prolonged or consecutive period of time because they were just too heavy for this purpose due to my being combination/oily. They didn't irritate my skin or clog my pores, but I would wake up feeling a bit greasy. I also had to use those on their own or it would be far too much.

I haven't had any of these issues with Melvita's Pulpe de Rose. I use it nightly post toner and essence, pre-serum and moisturiser and I've noticed quite a difference. On nights that I don't use this, my skin feels more dull and less hydrated the next morning. It's truly amazing. I don't wake up greasy at all, and my skin definitely feels more comfortable and well nourished. I've tried this during the day, but it seems like it's pushing it a little for my oily skin since I have the extra layer of sun protection as well, so I only use this at night. If you have dry skin though, it will work absolute wonders for you as both a day and night treatment. I am so in love with this product that I know it's always going to be in my routine.

I've always wondered how effective an oil could possibly be for those of us with the bane of oily skin, but I've learned that it has more to do with the kind of oil you employ. The addition of floral water lightens up the texture enough to help it absorb more quickly and effectively into the skin, which is what makes it so revolutionary. A must have? Yes!

It's safe to say that Melvita has yet to let me down and I've added a few more products to my stash that I'm in love with as well. Reviews are upcoming.

If you'd like to experience Melvita products for yourself, they currently have ongoing promotions of trial kits from RM159 onwards. Pulpe de Rose in its full size will run you around RM122 and it is worth every penny! The bottle states that it's good for up to 6 months, which is a testament to its organic nature, and it will actually last you a good chunk of that time judging by how little I've used within 2 months of reasonably regular application.

I'm also incredibly excited that they're opening a store right opposite my office in 1 Mont Kiara and I've just seen on their site that they have a promotion between the 26th of July to the 10th of August, 2014! I didn't even know they were due to open on the 26th, and I've been waiting with bated breath, and staring at the hoarding for the last month or so! They're having 30% off on rescue kits, 10% off on normal priced items, gifts with purchase and even an exchange programme where you can give them empty skincare bottles in exchange for a rescue kit worth RM109. I'm not sure of the details on this specifically since I'm reading this off the site at 2 o'clock in the morning and already plotting what I'm getting next, but it sounds like a plan to me! I think I'm too excited for my own good on this front!

    1. Ooo that sounds really good. You will surely love this too. I adore rose scents, but I don't like those which are overly chemically. This is perfect!

  2. Wow, this looks great! I love the idea of having the oil lightened by the rosewater, and of course, anything with rose is alright in my book!

    1. Rosewater is truly heavenly! I love the stuff and the fact that I've finally found an oil that I can incorporate into my skincare routine is an added bonus. I don't like omitting the rest of the stuff I use in favour of an oil. I feel like a product bigot!

  3. It looks pretty enough to drink - like apple juice! While not a fan of rose-scents, I find them tolerable if light. I have the Nuxe rose-scented cleansing water and that's quite nice. I am yet to jump in the bandwagon with Melvita. Perhaps it is time.

    1. This is lighter and more pleasant than Melvita. I do think that Melvita will equate itself with Vagheggi in your book. I've become quite the fangirl and I'm more than happy about it!

  4. Rose...me likey! So far I have had good results on using facial oil. In fact I love facial oil. There is one particularly that I like to use when I have breakout. Nothing can stop my breakout but once I pat that oil on the infected area, boom. Everything stop the next day and go away.
