Last month, Enchanteur and The Butterfly Project collaborated to introduce us to the world of their body lotion. I'm really glad I got to try these out because Enchantheur wasn't a brand I had ever contemplated prior to this.
The packaging on these bottles are somewhat old school. I believe they're trying to go for Parisian boudoir look with these, coupled with pops of colour from the labels. They're also definitely portable in that they're small and hold 135ml of product. They fit comfortably in the hand, and there are groves along the sides to ensure that you can grip them well. I don't know about you, but I always have trouble with holding on to lotion bottles when I'm trying to use the stuff. I'm clumsy on a regular day, but add lowered levels of friction to the mix and you have destroyed carpeting galore on your hands!
Now, on to the actual products. Enchanteur gave us 4 different varieties of body lotion, and I'm rather impressed that they cover all bases with them.
First off, we have their Whitening + SPF range.
[All-in-One Whitening (SPF24++)]
This contains SPF24++ which is a definite plus in weather like this, and this is a body serum, as opposed to body lotion. licorice concentrate to whiten and even out skin tone, and hyaluronic acid to lock in hydration. It has a very light, extremely pleasant scent. You guys know I despise heavily perfumed body lotions, and where these are concerned, they tick all the necessary boxes scent-wise: They are lightly scented, and the scent doesn't linger. I'm horrible at describing fragrances, but I would say this has a somewhat floral scent. It's truly to light to pinpoint any notes, and I completely approve of this!
Their triple whitening range contains active ingredients such as Vitamin B3, sakura concentrate and licorice concentrate. Vitamin B3 stops melanin from spreading, while sakura concentrate slows down how quickly melanin oxidises, and licorice concentrate prevents dark pigments which arise from UV exposure. As we know, melanin is the stuff that darkens our skin, so this trifecta ensures that its production and agitation is lessened. It has a slightly stronger, albeit similar, scent than the All-in-One Whitening lotion, but it is definitely a pleasant scent. It, too, dissipates quickly, so if you are sensitive to scents, it won't bother you at all.
[Firm & Repair]
If collagen is your be-all and end-all solution, this is what you're looking for. It contains micro collagen to strengthen and firm skin, and Swiss edelweiss to protect from free radicals and repair damaged skin overnight. This has a slightly fruity scent with definitively detectable notes of watermelon, but it is lightly scented as well, and does not linger. It's meant to improve skin elasticity, and we all need some of that, don't we?
[Light & Fresh]
Finally, we have the Light & Fresh variety which is meant for outdoor use. This is my favourite of the lot purely because of the scent. It has citrus notes which are very fresh, and it sits better with my scent preference. This contains portulaca (moss rose) and aloe vera concentrates which help to deeply moisturise the skin. This too contains licorice concentrate to prevent the formation of dark pigments, which is why it has claims to whitening and UV protection.
I've been using them in rotation over the last few weeks, and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. In all honesty, I wasn't expecting to like these at all. I'm really glad I did try them, however, because they are really rather impressive. I can't speak as to whether they work in their capacity as UV protectants (I'll get back to you in 20 years), but they certainly moisturise thoroughly, without the sticky residue. In fact, they sink in almost immediately, and leave your skin feeling extremely comfortable and comforted. I haven't had any issues with them while out in the Sun. I don't get the weird gunky feel some lotions can leave you with when it's extremely humid and/or you are sweating. They are truly fantastic, and I would recommend them over the majority of high end body lotions any day!
As for packaging, they're definitely ergonomic. As I mentioned above, the grooves along the sides allow for easy handling when in use. Beyond that, however, the lid is much more secure than I would have imagined. It won't pop open in your bag, so you won't have a problem carrying the bottle around should you choose to.
All in all, this is an extremely underrated range of body lotions which don't get nearly enough love! I highly, highly recommend them. If you're sensitive to scents, as I am, I wouldn't worry about it. They're extremely light and won't be detectable within a couple of minutes.
New found love? Definitely! They have a new deodorant out, and I'm actually rather tempted to try it! I have a good feeling about this. Don't you?
