I'm pretty sure that by this point anyone who is even remotely familiar with my blog would be patently aware that I have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with skincare. That said, the fact that The Butterfly Project is having an event in conjunction with Kiehl's means that I have to be there. And so, this is a post to make my case for my attendance!
We all know I'm a bit of an oil slick, and we should all know that dehydrated skin exacerbates oil production, which isn't a pretty sight at all. Enter Kiehl's with their solution to the problem!

One of Kiehl's best sellers is their Ultra Facial Cream, and for a period of time, I used it as a night cream. It was lovely and rich, though a little too much of both for my skin issues. So when you pop up with something called a Gel Cream that promises to keep shine at bay, you know I'm there.
[Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream]
I did try this product a couple of years back, and I didn't have much luck with it, though I suspect my skin care regimen at the time was partially to blame. I wasn't totally aware of my skintype, and what would suit me, so the extremely stripping cleanser I was using may have been to blame. I'd love to give this another shot to see if it bodes better this time. All in the name of science!
The texture of this is, as it suggests, a gel-cream, so it is thicker than your regular gel. Even so, it's not a product which sits on the sink. It sinks in rather quickly, and your skin is definitely hydrated from use. From what I recall, the lack of scent it had was a bonus because it just felt clean and refreshing to use. Since it's not a full-on cream, it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. There's also the added bonus that if you have excess sebum production, this won't clog your pores. I never had any issue with clogging back when I used it, which was a definite boon. I'm curious as to whether this has been reformulated in any way, so as to improve its effectiveness.
[Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner]
As we all know, I have a bit of a love affair with Kiehl's Calendula toner, and their cucumber toner was quite lovely too back when I was using it. I've just finished off my umpteenth bottle of Calendula, and I can't describe how awesome it is. It's got actual calendula petals in it which make you feel like you're giving yourself a bouquet of flowers daily; but more importantly, it's extremely gentle and refreshing. It makes you feel like you're truly caring for your skin, and it's the toner I always go back to when I'm not sure what I should try next.
I've also just kicked off another test run of their Ultra Light Daily UV Defense courtesy of Tammy's giveaway, and so far I quite like it. It's SPF50 PA+++ and certainly doesn't feel or smell like it. It's light and doesn't feel sticky at all. It also sinks in very quickly and doesn't make you feel greasy an hour after you've had it on (like some sunscreens do). So far, there haven't been any issues with clogged pores either, which is happiness personified!

What's funny is that until this post, I didn't realise that Kiehl's was already integrated in bits and bobs into my routine. Funny how things that provide comfort just don't factor into your consciousness. At night, I've been using their Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, which is the only eye cream I've ever re-purchased.
[Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado]
It's just as it suggests: A creamy eye cream. No fuss, no muss. It's incredibly thick and I only use this at night, and it's a no nonsense product because it doesn't claim to do amazing things which are usually a lie anyway. It just does a brilliant job of moisturising my undereye area overnight. It's truly comforting to use, and if nothing else, how thick it is makes me feel like I'm looking after my undereye area.
We might be getting a little personal here, but I'm also using their deodorant.
[Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream]
This was something I picked up on a whim because I hadn't tried a cream deodorant before. I've got a full review on it coming up, but for right now I can attest to the fact that it has amazing qualities as a deodorant, because you just won't smell! It also doesn't have a scent, so it won't give you that weird issue of having the smell of B.O. mixed with perfume that can sometimes occur. Yes, I shall stop discussing this now.
All in all, I adore the clinical, minimalist packaging they employ for their products. No overly fancy graphics that detract from the issue. Don't you just love their stores as well? Everyone walking around in white coats (including the skeleton - though if it starts walking, I'll be the first to leg it out of there!), which appeals to the guinea pig in me.
Here's to keeping fingers crossed that I get to go for the event!
