Yes, this is the definitive sign that I have returned, and the fact that there are 2 parts to this haul is proof that I am, in fact, back with a vengeance!
This is going to be a bit of a mad dash through the aisles of the makeup and skincare industry, so hang in there!
Let's kick things off with a bit of Essence. I've only recently started getting involved with this brand, and so far I'm loving everything I've tried!
First, we've got their Mattifying Compact Powder. This is my latest acquisition and I haven't tried it yet, but Priya is to blame for this purchase!
[Essence's Mattifying Compact Powder in 02 Soft Beige]
It's under RM20 which makes it a worthwhile shot for sure!
Then there's the impulse purchase which I don't regret even a little!
[Essence's Matte Bronzing Powder in Sunny]
This bronzer is amazing, and it comes in at RM18.90 which is beyond a steal for how pretty it is in pan and on, as well as how amazingly well it blends in and lasts!
At RM4.90, their lip liner may be the best thing I've ever bought in my life.
[Essence's Lip Liner in 06 Satin Mauve]
This is an unbelievably creamy lip liner! In fact, it's creamy enough to be considered a lipstick-stick, and I fully intend to invest in all the colours they sell because it's absolutely amazing.
Now, scaling things up a bit, we've got a MySale order of Becca goodies. Note that I restrained myself to only 2 products, and I can't be happier with them!
I have a bit of a relationship with concealer, so when I saw it on sale, I couldn't help myself.
[Becca's Compact Concealer in Honey]
Lots of brands have concepts like this where the compact or pot comes with a more salmon-y undertone, as well as a regular concealer to aid in all conceivable problems you may face with your face. Laura Mercier is, of course, the reigning queen of advertising in this field.
While this concealer was lovely, and I enjoy it, I still think Soap & Glory's Kick Ass Concealer is a perfect dupe which surpasses anything in the market for a fraction of the price. I'll do a review of it soon because it's amazing!
My love affair with brushes continues as well.
[Becca's Foundation/Concealer Brush (#58)]
It's so soft! I sat there for most of the night while I was obsessively watching videos on YouTube stroking the brush! It's like having a new pet. I love it!
Shall we take a look at the products in action?
I used the salmon shade in the Becca compact, along with the Essence bronzer and lip liner. I just topped the lip liner with a lilac gloss of a similar shade and I love the effect!
[Becca Concealer + Essence Bronzer & Lip Liner]
You can't have a massive haul sans Luxola, can you? Maybelline has some new lippies out which I haven't seen on the shelves, so what better item to pick up? Maybelline has some truly lovely lipsticks!
[Maybelline's Color Show Lipsticks in Pinkalicious (105), Red My Lips (202), Nude Mocha (305)]
More brushes to be found, I'm afraid!
[Zoeva's Eye Finish (#229)]
I had hoped this brush would be more dense, but it works decently enough. It's just not my favourite from Zoeva. It's certainly soft and fluffy. I just prefer my brushes a little more on the densely packed side.
And, of course, I finally caved to the reign of Sleek palettes, and I have no regrets!
[Sleek's Blush by 3 in Pumpkin (363)]
[Lantern, Squash, P Pie]
Look at these shades! Aren't they absolutely gorgeous? I picked this particular shade range because corals work well on my skin tone, and I've recently discovered that orange lipsticks do too, so an orange blush is definitely worth a shot!
The next purchase was Shasha's fault!
Luxola had packaged two of their i-Divine palettes together, so I simply couldn't resist. With the relevant discounts, they worked out to around RM35 each, which is beyond a steal!
[Sleek's i-Divine Au Naturel Palette]
[Sleek's i-Divine Storm Palette]
I won't be putting the swatches of these in this post because I'll be doing full reviews on them separately. Do let me know which palette you'd like reviewed first.
Now for some gifts from my favourite elusive personality: ShopGirl
I don't know how to express how generous she is because everytime I see her, she pops up bearing gifts!
On a trip to Hong Kong, with multiple visits to multiple SaSas, she picked up some Bioderma for me!
While the traditional bottle of Bioderma with the pink cap is most famous, there are 2 other varieties of Bioderma on the market. The pink cap is for sensitive skin, while the green cap (this bottle) is for oily/combination skin. There's also a blue capped version which is for dry skin. Needless to say, Bioderma is amazing! AMAZING! I'm so glad we can finally get it here (Isetan KLCC), but it'll be a while before I get through this ginormous 500ml bottle of the stuff.
I've got a review of micellar waters coming up, so if you're confused about the varying forms of the stuff on the market it'll be up within the month.
She also went for the sale at Park Royal last month, and got me a little something. Around Christmas last year, I ran amok with Shu Uemura's palettes by Takashi Murakami. I didn't pick up the lip products in the collection though because I wasn't sure about them, but then she gave me this and I tried it. Regrets? Yes!
[Shu Uemura's Lip & Cheek Tint in Magical Red]
You need a very tiny bit of the stuff to get a lovely colour on both your cheeks and your lips.
[Horrible Swatch, but a swatch nevertheless]
And so, when I saw Shu's new gelato tints, I knew I had to get my hands on them! It helps that the purchases in December have yielded a voucher amounting to RM100, so the entire financial damage on this visit was RM10. I call that a win!
[Voucher Redemption Win!]
[Shu Uemura's Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation Polishing Sponge]
While I don't have the Lightbulb Foundation, I've heard this sponge works quite fabulously so why not give it a shot with my current foundation? At RM20, which I only paid RM10 for in addition to the voucher, it was definitely worth trying out.
Now for the stuff that had me running around town trying to get my hands on it!
[Shu Uemura's Tint in Gelato Lip & Cheek Color in AT 02]
If you've been following my blog, you'll know that my bright pink lippie obsession hasn't ended yet. I simply couldn't resist, and I clearly wasn't the only one! This was sold out at a number of Shu Boutiques. I was further intrigued by the fact that the Sales Assistant informed me that you could use this on your lips, cheeks AND eyes! Cream shadow? OMG! At RM90, that's around RM30 per product, technically, so it works out well.
The formula on this is a little more dry than the holiday tint so I do think it could work as an eyeshadow base over a primer. Can't wait to try it out!
It's also time for an intermission (i.e. story). I had a bit of an issue with Shu Uemura in Pavillion because their Sales Assistants are unbelievably judgmental. I shan't get into the specifics but I contacted them and informed them that they need to do a better job training their staff and they responded in good time and made the effort to make it up to me. I truly appreciate good customer service, and it's incentive enough to keep supporting the brand. 10 millions points for good service!
On to more tales of horrible customer service, the reigning champions: Sephora Malaysia!
So, I've been eyeing the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette for a while now and when I went into Sephora Starhill, 4 different staff gave me differing responses as to its availability ranging from variants of there's no such thing, to it's limited edition, to they won't be bringing it back in. All of this is utter nonsense.
Because I am a bit of an obsessive nutter, I ran around checking anyway, and found it in KLCC a couple of week back. Lo and behold, a fellow makeup junkie posted a query not 2 days later as to when it would be back in stock on Sephora Malaysia's FB page to be told it's a limited edition palette and wouldn't be restocked. This is the definition of incompetence and absurdity at its finest. I truly despise Sephora Malaysia. Unfortunately, I'm not one to exhibit self-control so I keep going back there. However, I will say this: Sephora KLCC is by far the best of the lot. It's the only branch at which I haven't gotten shoddy service and they don't whine and make faces when I ask for samples.
End of rant. Back to haul.
[<3 Sephora KLCC]
[NYX's Roll On Shimmer in Almond]
I've been eyeing these NYX roll-on shimmers for a while now, and at RM19, they are truly worth it! Look how gorgeous it is! Imagine how pretty it would be in the middle of a full-on smokey eye!
And, of course, my beloved!
[Too Faced's Chocolate Bar Palette]
I adore this palette! Other than the fact that it's of impeccable quality, when you open the tin, you are immediately hit with the scent of chocolate! OMG! It's like the perfect palette! I'll have a full review of this up soon as well. It took a lot of self-control not to touch it before the picture!
Next up, h20+. Since I got my dedicated Lilac Box, I've been a huge fan of the brand. Their skincare worked wonders on me and the only reason I haven't stuck to it is because I truly enjoy being a guinea pig. A pig in general too, but tales of my sloth-like behaviour shall be kept for another time.
This time, there was a body care kit on sale! It was RM104 for 4 full sized products, which is amazing!
[h20+'s Milk Kit]
Their Milk range is meant to be for whitening and moisturising. Now, whitening products aren't actually meant to WHITEN, but rather to brighten. Happy times!
[h20+'s Milk Shower & Bath Gel]
Can I say it? Dove is not better than Milk! Especially under these circumstances. Not only does this smell divine, but it's so very hydrating and moisturising! I LOVE! So much! A full-sized shower gel of theirs will run you RM59 on its own, so you see how this kit was well worth it!
I haven't tried the rest of the stuff, but I'm excited to!
[h20+'s Milk Moisturising Body Lotion]
[Loofah: For a scrubbing good time!]
[h20+'s Milk Body Scrub]
[h20+'s Milk Hand & Nail Cream]
No regrets there!
Then there's the first of the travel acquisitions.
[Sri Lanka Haul]
[Garnier's Fructis Shampoo + Oil 2 in 1]
This smell amazing! I've used it a couple of times, but I've yet to test it out properly. I shall report back!
Next up was a little gift for the Enabler who has sensitive skin.
[L'Oreal's Skin Perfection Toner]
And a little gift for me!
[Lancome's Exfoliating Toner]
Let me explain this a little. My flight was at 8 am and I hadn't slept, and I just knew I needed to buy something to make the absurd hour feel better. Enter: A 400ml bottle of toner I had never heard of in my life. Verdict: Best impulse buy on a trip ever!
Seriously, I LOVE this toner! It's a major reason for why my skin has improved quite a bit in the last month. Full review definitely upcoming!
And let's end off with a gift from the Enabler and the Abandoner (the Enabler's sister). The Abandoner was in the States last month, and I asked if she would pick me up some dry shampoo from Herbal Essences and Dove. I've heard amazing things, but they aren't available here. Because she loves me (as she should), she managed to get hold of them for me!
[Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo]
[Dove Dry Shampoo]
For the record, I've got around 6 dry shampoo reviews coming up, so if you're in the market for the good stuff, there will be some good suggestions in there. Note: Steer clear of Fudge & Klorane.
And the Enabler was in Bangkok to visit the Abandoner recently. She tried out Lee Stafford's Argan Oil Masque, and bought me the shampoo of the stuff! It smells like heaven, and I'm so stoked to try it out!
[Lee Stafford's Argan Oil Nourishing Shampoo]
Stay tuned for Part II. If you'd like a review of anything in particular first, do let me know!
