No, this is not going to be a post about nudity or how awesome it is to feel comfortable without makeup on! This is a post about skincare in general, and the launch of a new series on my blog.

It's been a year of discovery for me and since the great Yadah pledge of 2013, I have been actively looking into the ingredients I'm putting on my face. The reason for focusing on Antipodes and thisworks (as will be later elaborated on) is simple. Upon opening the products, you need to use them up within a 6-month time frame. This encourages 2 very important things. Firstly, don't be stingy. If you're using something amazing, but you're using quantities which are negligible, they're not going to work. You're better off buying something cheaper and using an appropriate amount of the stuff. Secondly, if your skincare lasts for more than 12 months, you know there's stuff in there you shouldn't be putting on your face. Yes, we all want to be preserved in the glory of our youth, but there are ways of doing so without doing long-term damage. Enter the reigning couple in this field!

I can't quite explain to you how good it feels to have products in your repertoire that do the job without the addition of nonsense that you don't need. We all have different products for different things, so we really don't need something that claims to do it all. It's when we start getting into the miracle workers that things get a little tricky. On more than one occasion, I've had outbreaks of face-plague due to the miraculous claims of products. What I mean by this is that because the product tries to do it all, some of the ingredients may not mesh well with each other, and in turn become rather abrasive to skin.

So, time to pare down to the good stuff? Absolutely! For ages I went through the phase of assuming that the Economic principle of equating price with quality was a myth, and so I did my rounds around the pharmacy-range circuit with no good coming of it. Since I've gone on a mission to find quality stuff, my skin has improved dramatically, and that makes me very happy!

[Antipodes Stash]

In light of good fortune, I'm spreading the love by kicking off a series of skin care posts. By request, I'll be doing a skin care routine, but it will be split into 5 separate parts: Morning Routine, Exfoliants and Treatments, Masques, Makeup Removal and Night Routine.

The reason that I've split them as such is to provide a comprehensive review of products which I've found to work rather well, as well as providing options for those of you who don't fancy the specifics thereof. The series will be titled "Skincare Sunday", and will kick off this coming weekend (18th May).

[thisworks Stash]

Alongside this, I'll be doing a brand focus on Antipodes and thisworks because they are very natural, holistic brands which make the world a better place. While the reviews on Antipodes will be purely in the realm of skincare, thisworks will cover a wider spectrum of well-being.

As always, if you guys have any specific requests, do let me know and I'll do my best to cover it!

  1. Excited about your new series, Arpita! I love skincare more than makeup because nothing beats good skin as a canvas for makeup application and no one can create art without a decent canvas to work on. With good skin it also means less to have to hide. Only wish I had better skin :(
I notice that you're putting the backdrop to good use - instant improvement on carpet! Love the upgrade. It really helps the products pop out more.

    1. I'm really excited too! We share the same affliction whereby our obsession with skincare surpasses makeup, and the price surpasses it too! You have amazing skin and look fabulous so don't complain!
The backdrop has to be the best thing to happen to my blog ever. I can't thank you enough!
