I got this when I was sad that I couldn't find dry shampoo below the price of RM60 in Malaysia, and I saw it randomly when I popped into a haircare store while they were having a sale.

A little bit of background first. Matrix is part of the L'Oreal group, and so this is definitely within the more affordable range. It retails for RM39, but I got it at 50% off because I bought 3 products. That was certainly a happy day!

[Matrix's Clean Remix Instand Dry Shampoo]

As with all my preferred dry shampoos, this came with a spray nozzle to enable neater application. The scent on this was neither pleasant not unpleasant. You can definitely smell full on alcohol mixed with some citrus fruit, maybe pineapples. So this smells like a pineapple cocktail! However, the scent doesn't linger and this doesn't leave you with any white cast either.

So, how effective was it? Decently so. For the price, I absolutely cannot complain. To date I still think Percy & Reed make the best dry shampoo that's available here, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay RM69 for each bottle. I have some self-control! This definitely soaks up enough of the oils to make you feel like your hair is decent enough to leave the house with, and it doesn't dry your hair too badly either. However, it's a dry shampoo you would spray in the night before or in the morning, and have to wash your hair once the day is over because it doesn't really extend the shelf life of your unwashed hair for more than a day.

It's not a bad product, and in a pinch I would definitely purchase this again, though I could probably justify the purchase of Sephora's dry shampoo in a pinch. This, however, is really good value for money, especially if you get it on sale, and it works quite well as a volumizing and texturizing product as well.

Not the best product on the market, and definitely one you should get hold off if you're in need of affordable dry shampoo in Malaysia.

  1. I do feel that you're becoming an established authority on dry shampoos, Arpita!
    Thanks for another earnest review.
And thank you again for the Sephora gift when I saw you last. I'm still trying to get used to how to use this type of product effectively but I think it really should be more popular in a country such as ours on account of the constant heat and humidity that we must endure day-in and day-out and all year round.
It's a shame we don't have as many brands as there are available in other countries but it looks like, as always, that we'll either have to make do or bother our unfortunate family and friends to lug us back a few.

    1. Haha I should hope so! It's definitely a new obsession of mine and there are 3 reviews of other brands still upcoming.
I feel the same. This is the weather in which you absolutely need the stuff! It's absurd that I have to source it from overseas. What a true shame!

    1. Yeah! I can't understand why it's so hard to find. But, it can be ordered on some FB sites within Malaysia now (Batiste at least), so it's something.

  3. Arpita, you do it again.. Yes, I have to agree with SG though i'd probably go a step further and say not only are you the authority on Dry Shampoos.. you're also the authority on BB Creams, Lipsticks, Body Lotions, Eyeliners and the list goes on :) Thank you for doing all the 'hard work' in testing out this luscious yummies.

The last time I seriously used this Dry Shampoo stuff was when i was in confinement .. i hazily recall Wella and it was a dry powder..for the life of me I had absolutely no idea how to use that stuff and my later foray with whatzitzname = a green bottle in my Modbox was no better.. all it did was make my hair smell slightly better... No I guess dry shampoo's are really not for me..but it this makes a good hair refresher/freshener then I'd probably get me one only when it's on sale as the weather now is simply crazy...

    1. We all know I'm an addict. This is the only place I won't get put on SSRIs for the fact! And you girls certainly help me justify it!

The loose powder versions of it are crazy. I can never avoid getting it all over my clothes and carpet. Definite no-no for my lack of coordination! Is the dry shampoo you used Shaire? I got it in Mivva, I think, and I absolutely hate it. I couldn't use it more than once!
