I know this is going to seem a bit like an odd post, but you have to understand that hand sanitiser is a major part of my life. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, and the thought of leaving home without hand sanitiser is actually more daunting to me than leaving home without my phone.

It's been about a year now since I discovered Crabtree & Evelyn's hand sanitisers through the Enabler, and I haven't looked back since. What's so special about them? Firstly, they come in almost every scent from the ranges that they carry, and secondly, they are moisturising!

Granted, they run towards what seems like an obscene amount to pay for such a product at RM25 each, but they are truly spectacular and you need a very tiny amount for effective cleaning.

Truly, one of these lasts me a minimum of 4 months and that's with use multiple times per day (between 6-10 depending on whether the situation calls for wet wipes of hand sanitiser).

I honestly don't think I'm ever going back to Dettol or Antabax where hand sanitiser is concerned because they truly do have the tendency to dry your skin out. This doesn't. Your hands feel clean and moisturised, which they bloody well better be when you're using a RM25 bottle of hand sanitiser. These run at around RM20 in the UK, so the difference isn't drastic enough to be unjustifiable in my books. I've been loving these for a good long while, and that doesn't seem like it will change anytime soon.

As a reference of time, when these pictures were taken, I was at the dregs of my Pomegranate sanitiser, and I threw it out and began using Gardener's. I'm still using it with about 1/3 of the bottle left. If that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does. It also helps that it dries very quickly and doesn't leave a sticky residue at all. However, I wouldn't recommend the Gardener's variety purely because it doesn't smell as pleasant as the rest do. The rest are truly lovely and I'm definitely eyeing their La Source version once I'm out of Garderner's. Yes, my Lavender backup is still there. But I need a backup once that goes into commission, don't I?

I have to say this: Hand sanitiser has to be one of the best inventions ever! EVER! And these are right up there with the absolute best!

  1. i luv hand sanitiser too . i used The body shop lemon sanitiser. Yesterday i went shopping mall . Just window shopping and i drop by at Crabtree & Evelyn's outlet. There are new stock which are 1 set of hand cream contain 8 tube of 30ml hand cream of Crabtree & Evelyn's with 8 difference sense cost u RM118. maybe u would like to buy it :).

    1. Oooo thank you for the head's up! I will definitely have to go and check this out! Temptation!!!

    2. Oh, I got this Christmas set of 8 C&E hand creams a couple of years ago! It lasts forever but I'll pass this year because of the sheer amount of hand creams we've been getting in all the subscriptions. I don't even have enough hands to hold them all and am literally tripping over my hand creams.

    3. Too much hand cream didn't stop me from buying Caudalie's lip balm & hand cream set. I do think I need to justify it with an encompassing hand cream review as well. It seems like the only way to get around the fact that I am amassing enough of the stuff to use it as body moisturiser.

  2. I'm a little OCD against touching the surfaces at public places. I'll be that crazy gal who will open the door at the bank at the top most or bottom most point on the handle as it's the place with least public contact and I will also run a mile when anyway sneezes into the wind.
That said, I haven't discovered hand sanitisers yet but I go through about two boxes of tissues a week just to get from A to B.
Should I get started?! I don't like the ones that are tacky and nothing beats water and a good and proper scrub-up but isn't this essentially just massaging those existing germs around and giving them a scent?
The Dettol one has always been attractive to me precisely because of the 99.9% germ-killing functions but then I worry about that remaining 0.01%. I am so crazy and now you got me started :P

    1. We're soul sisters I think because I cannot tell you how many tissues and wet wipes I get through. I even carry paper soap with me just in case. I do believe 1/3 of my day is spent washing my hands and hand sanitiser is for those times when you haven't actually handled anything but feel the need to sanitise anyway.
These kill off 99% of germs too, plus they moisturise which is always a plus because I'm not someone who religiously uses hand sanitiser.
Give one of these a shot! You will find a new love if you're anything like me.

    2. Haha we are soul sisters even if we've never met!
I love going to post-SARS HK because they have hand sanitiser dispensers in all public areas and almost every building. I also love how some buildings have a layer of plastic over all the lift buttons and this is supposed to be changed every hour. It's an OCD city if there ever was one. I can only imagine that Japan would be even more cool for my OCD hygiene tendencies. I want to go one day soon!

    3. Shopgirl, i think Dettol hand sanitisers it good for you with coverage 99% but it will dry your hand

    4. Gadis, you are absolutely right! I actually have naturally dry hands anyway. No sweat at all.

I have found this to be problem with most sanitisers but some days the benefit of killing germs outweighs the negatives of having hands from the crypt. Dettol are so good at associating themselves with being germ-killer extraordinaire. I'm also kind of obsessed with their other products; even their floor cleaner. I think it's because I actually quite fancy the scent of Dettol.
In my mind it's exactly what clean and sterile should smell like.
I think the guys at Dettol will love after the hear this because that's exactly what they want us to think.

    5. I had no idea HK was that way! Definitely time to pay it a visit. People are just so disgusting that these things are necessary. I cannot fathom how hand washing is a debateable aspect of life. It's almost like they are ignoring the existence of science altogether!
Trust me, I completely understand your love you that Dettol scent! When they came out with soap dispensers, my life was more or less complete. I applaud them for their foray into new and exciting endeavours which will benefit us!
