Extremely unexpectedly, I received my Lilac Box on Saturday! Actually, I received 2, but one was for the Enabler. I do have some self-control! When I saw the cardboard packaging, I knew it had to be good. Books, covers, judgement and all that jazz.
So I ripped it open with my trusty Zombie Apocalypse knife, and I was greeted by black and silver...by far the best colour combination in the world (I am well aware that black is not a colour, but humour me).
[Jimmy Choo Ribbon]
I never would have admitted it as a child, but ribbons really do make things better. The very act of tugging lightly at that festive band just send shivers of delicious anticipation down my spine.
And lo and behold, just as beautiful on the inside!
[The Lilac Box 4]
What do we have?
[Jimmi Choo's Flash EDT Samples]
They're both pretty decent as far as perfumes go. This wasn't too terribly exciting to me because I'm not really a huge fan of perfume per se. However, little samples are always convenient for travelling with and stashing in your bag for those moments when you are faced with people who refuse to wear deodorant. You can sniff yourself instead. And, there ladies, is where the importance of perfume lies.
[Crabtree & Evelyn's Tarocco Orange Hand Cream]
More hand cream! While I have never been obsessive over hand cream, I have to admit that Crabtree & Evelyn do the best job at it by far. Not only is their range of hand creams amazing, but their ranges of moisturising hand sanitisers, and hand washes are absolutely divine. If I had to receive hand cream, this would be as good a choice as any. It smells lovely and fresh, like oranges in fact (just in case the name wasn't clear enough) and if there's any food product I don't mind smelling of, it's definitely oranges! Very lovely!
[OPI's Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!]
NAIL POLISH!!! I'm not sure but I may have giggled a little in glee at receiving more nail polish. I was a little sad that it reminded me of a colour I had recently purchased though. Nonetheless, it is an absolutely beautiful colour. It's a blueish-grey shade which is absolutely gorgeous. But, because I had something so similar, I was more tempted than I care to admit to open up the Enabler's box to check on her colour. But I didn't! She opened it up the next day and she got this:
[OPI's Skull & Glossbones]
No, this isn't white polish. It's a very pale shade of grey that's really quite lovely. It's not a colour she would use, but mine is so we've switched our polishes. I quite like this option.
[OPI's Skull & Glossbones and Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!]
How does it compare to the colour I've already got?
[OPI's Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! and Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees]
While it's definitely a pretty colour and there is a slight difference, it isn't as stark a difference as the closest shade I have to Skull & Glossbones.
[Docile's D216 & OPI's Skull & Glossbones]
Nothing like it in my collection. I really do like both the shades, but this definitely wins out over the two just because I'm missing such a shade.
[Sothys' Hydra-nourishing Mask & Light Hydrating Cream]
These are definitely the items I was most excited to have received! Sothys' hydration range is supposed to be absolutely amazing, so their mask is definitely a must, as is the cream. Due to the fact that I already have oily skin, their full-on moisturiser isn't something that works for me. This is just perfect!
[L'Oreal Liss Ultime Shampoo & Hair Mask]
If I hadn't given a set of these away, I'd have 4 of these from beauty boxes. I'm neither happy nor unhappy with these. They really are quite lovely as products, and a review on the mask is upcoming. It's just unfortunate that I already have multiples.
[L'Oreal Mademoiselle Infium Hair Spray]
This, while extremely pretty in terms of packaging, is completely lost on me. I don't use hair spray so anyone who wants this is welcome to it. What a shame.
How does this box fare? In terms of value and range of products, it's quite exceptional. I'm definitely not disappointed with anything in here except the hair spray, and it has to be one of the better boxes I've received to date. It's definitely packed to the brim with an array of goodies which would keep someone who wasn't obsessively subscribed to beauty boxes excessively pleased and sighing with content. Would I buy The Lilac Box 5? I'll be up all night waiting for it once it's announced! I even cajoled a friend last week into buying me their Tongue in Chic edition while she was at Good Vibes last week, and even though I already know exactly what is in there, there's no denying that I'm still completely stoked about it.
